A proudly Canadian organization founded in Ottawa, Ontario and officially incorporated on August 19, 2017, Sunny Futures began with a simple idea: education should never be out of reach.

What started as grassroots support for orphaned children in Zambia evolved to address the deeply interconnected challenges of poverty in four African countries. Sunny Futures expanded its work to support not only children’s education, but also the well-being and empowerment of women and girls, helping families build brighter, more sustainable futures.

We are a community-led partner organization. Sunny Futures believes in the agency of community actors, and this is highlighted in our work alongside local leadership and community representatives in a collaborative, community-driven way. This means we listen to our community partners about their unique needs and community dynamics, despite the overarching themes of social and economic inequalities and exclusions that our organization works to reduce.
